The
ability to precisely match output to demand allows
air compressors to consume exactly the right amount
of energy to do the job, and no more. CompAir
Ltd, a world leader in compressed air equipment, achieves
outstanding efficiency in its LSR and D-HSR series
of variable-speed rotary-screw compressors, thanks
to state-of-the-art SR Drive® switched
reluctance systems from SR Drives Manufacturing Ltd.
These represent the
most significant technological advance in rotary drives
since the inception of the induction motor over a century
ago and, combined with the latest features for control
and monitoring, overcome many of the commonly accepted
disadvantages of induction motors. The
SR Drive® systems
are inherently soft starting, with smooth and controlled
acceleration and deceleration, reducing stress on mechanical
and electrical components. Compared
to conventional variable-speed drives, the electronically
controlled regulation systems of the LSR-series simplifies
system construction, resulting in a ‘less to go
wrong’ concept.
The L45SR and L75SR compressors
have successfully provided users with energy and operational
cost savings in
excess of 25% over conventional compressors. The L120SR offers a greater output of between 2.75m³/min to
19.84m³/min, and pressures from 5bar to 13bar, with
even greater savings for larger air users.
CompAir’s new range of variable speed
compressors utilize totally enclosed SR Drive® motors
and a fully integrated controller.
