Reporting to the Managing Director, the Engineering Project Manager will have the opportunity to lead and direct a number of engineering and manufacturing projects to ensure product delivery within agreed customer timescales. The Engineering Project Manager must work and communicate effectively with colleagues from all functions of SRDL and SRDML in order to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of a wide range of engineering projects, ensuring that projects are safely completed to customers specifications within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure that all required components are ordered and received in a timely manner to ensure projects continue to remain on time and within budget.
- To contribute to the continuous improvement of project management techniques and methods.
- To ensure company procedures are updated and adhered to throughout the project (Design transfer/sales process/documentation).
- Effective allocation of available resources to ensure agreed targets are achieved.
- Regularly monitoring actual project spend against total budget available.
- Co-ordinate and chair regular project review meetings.
- Identification and management of risk within projects.
- Working closely with the Management Team to regularly review customer requirements, timescales and budgetary issues.
- To complete further ad hoc tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required
- Effective planning and organisational skills to provide clear leadership and direction.
- The ability to remain focused under pressure.
- The ability to understand technical briefs and direct teams within engineering and manufacturing in order to achieve project completion.
- Good working knowledge of the tools and elements of project management.
- The ability to work with a diverse group of people with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Able to motivate people to ensure timescales are met.
Education and Experience
- Qualified to Degree level (preferably Engineering related).
- Experience of formal project planning and project management techniques; use of Microsoft Project or similar planning and tracking tools.
- Engineering design experience preferable, although not essential.
- Former experience or exposure to business development or customer service.
- Previous experience of managing a team (including remote teams).
