Regional Sales Representative (Northern Europe)

Due to the continuing expansion of our product lines into Europe (electric motors, controllers and drive-train components etc.), we are actively looking to recruit a full time Regional Sales Representative to join our team currently based in both Harrogate, UK and Italy. Reporting to the European Sales Manager, and with focus primarily within Northern Europe, the successfully appointed candidate will manage existing customer accounts, source new sales opportunities, and close sales to achieve targets. The Regional Sales Representative will play a key role in increasing revenue and operating profits by managing and negotiating with customers, generating leads, qualifying prospects and managing sales of products and services. The successful candidate will possess relevant technical skills, have the ability to plan and prioritise, will demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills and sound decision-making abilities.

We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge and experience of relevant European market and application areas including materials handling, floorcare and electric vehicles.

The location of this role can be flexible according to the successful candidates’ current place of residency. It is expected that this role will involve significant travel within Europe.

Mechanical Design Engineers

We are currently recruiting to expand our team of mechanical design engineers, and are looking for talented individuals (temporary and permanent) to join a motivated and highly skilled team. Applications are invited from either graduates with previous experience in a mechanical design role, preferably in the field of rotating machines, or from suitably experienced candidates who can demonstrate qualifications to a broadly similar level, e.g. HNC/HND or equivalent. In either case a sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and their practical application is essential, together with a high degree of proficiency in the use of 3-D CAD systems, preferably ProEngineer/Creo. Previous experience of working within the automotive industry would be highly beneficial.

The successful applicant will have a number of Key Responsibilities to include:

  • To develop 3-D conceptual designs which meet customer requirements using ProEngineer/Creo, often to a tight timescale;
  • To carry out stress, modal and thermal analysis of electrical machines using finite element analysis (ANSYS package).
  • To progress existing concepts to a fully detailed design which takes into account component tolerances, fits, etc. and is suitable for manufacture;
  • Whilst taking a lead in a variety of mechanical engineering activities, to liaise with electro-magnetic, electrical, hardware and software engineers in the development of new electrical machine designs and improvement of existing products;
  • To maintain accurate design records in accordance with company document control procedures;
  • To prepare preliminary material lists based on design specifications;
  • To supervise the assembly and testing of prototype electrical machines;
  • To work as part of a team, ensuring projects meet all technical and commercial requirements;
  • To respond to internal and external customer enquiries.

Embedded Software Engineer

We are currently recruiting to expand our team of embedded software engineers, and are looking for talented individuals (temporary and permanent) to join a highly skilled team at our design and manufacturing facility in Harrogate. Applications are invited from graduates with previous experience of developing control applications in a hard-real-time embedded environment.

We are seeking applicants with experience of working in an environment utilising embedded Real-time C programming (particularly in the field of electronic motor control) with knowledge of autocoding tools (MATLAB/Simulink), CAN communications, automotive SPICE and software quality processes.

It would also be highly desirable for applicants to have good working knowledge of Infineon AURIX TriCore processors, functional safety standards (ISO 26262), MISRA guidelines, AUTOSAR and/or Vector MICROSAR configuration tools.

The successful applicant will have a number of Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Analyse end application requirements by liaising with customers and other Nidec Corp. divisions.
  • Generate and refine software requirements, generate software design documentation.
  • Model-based design and auto-coding using MATLAB Simulink.
  • Write and debug embedded C and desktop Windows applications.
  • Assist hardware team in system architecture design and debug.
  • Test and integrate software in hardware.
  • Operate in a modern QA environment, following company and international standards where they apply
